What do I love about the Havanese? They are related to the Bichon Frise family, so a good choice for those with hypo-allergenic needs but also great for those of us who don’t like to vacuum – very minimal shedding! They are a happy, happy dog who adapts extremely well to their owners’ needs. On a cold winter night, they will curl up in your lap and keep you warm. On the other hand, if you want to go outside and run around, jumping and racing everywhere – they want to be a part of that too! Because of their size (8.5 – 11.5″ at the withers), they are easy travel companions. They will ride under the seat if you go by plane or ride nicely in a small crate in the car. As long as they can be with you, they are content. If that’s not enough, they are also smart and easy to train. They do need daily brushing since their coat tends to pick up anything and everything in the yard. Keeping the mats away helps keep their skin and coat in good condition.
